Serenity, precision and eficiency
The Iaijutsu is the Samurai art of drawing the sword in combat.
Some of the schools that we practice are:
* Suio Ryu
* Sekiguchi Ryu
* Kishikawa Ryu Iaijutsu
The Iaijutsu classes include also the Brazilian Kobudo Federation katas, created by Sensei Jorge Kishikawa with elements of several traditional schoola of Iaijutsu.
The students with a more advanced technique also practice the Tameshigiri or Battodo, cutting tests in tatame with a real, sharpen, Katana.
The Iaijutsu deals directly with the sword.
The classes consist by katas (pre defined sequences) dated from the Samurai times and that teaches how to draw the sword and win against oponents.
The notorious and unparallel skill of the Samurai in sword combat, the Iaijutsu is the art of winning even before the sword is drawn. It transcends the fighting aspects and reaches the state of art. It is a path to perfection, to be followed by all those who seek self awareness and balance.
The Iaijutsu practice requires a great deal of concentration, presence of spirit and balance, so those skills are developed through constant tranning. The students learn more than to only draw the sword: The Iaijutsu practice teaches the practicioners to be ready and aware at all moments, with deal with difficult situations with serenity and security.
Goshinjutsu - Samurai Self Defence Techniques
In our classes we also practice Goshinjutsu techniques.
- The Kobudo arts, be the Kenjutsu, Jojutsu, Iaijutsu or any other that we practice in Niten, have Goshin aplications.
"Go" means Defence, and "shin" means Body.
This can be translated as Body Defence (Self Defence).
The Kobudo arts in Niten offer techniques that were useful in the battlefields in Samurai times.
Suio RyuThe main school practiced in our Iaijutsu is the Suio Ryu. Besides Iaijutsu, the Suio Ryu Iai Kenpo has Kenjutsu, Naginatajutsu, Jojutsu, Wakizashi (short sword) and unnarmed techniques.
The head of the school is Master Yoshimitsu Katsuse, the 15th Soke, with whom Sensei Jorge Kishikawa practice all these techniques for many years now.
